A mob on March 4 2022 killed a Malawi Defence Force soldier under the Parachute Battalion for alleged robbery in Salima District.

Salima Police Station spokesperson Jacob Khembo identified the soldier as Corporal Kingsley Manjawira, 35. He said the suspect, who was living within Salima, went to Siyasiya Trading Centre where he allegedly robbed a businessperson of K140,000 at gunpoint.

The businessman shouted for help and community members assaulted the soldier. “The deceased’s wife identified the suspect and postmortem conducted at Salima District Hospital showed death was due to head injuries,” said Khembo.
