Malawi’s First Lady Gertrude Mutharika yesterday consoled the Seventh-Day Adventist Community in the country following the death of Ruckshana Kunkanga. Born in 1971, Kunkanga succumbed to a long battle with cancer on Sunday and was buried on Tuesday at her home in Chimbiya, Dedza.
Until her death, Kunkanga was the church’s director of communications for the Central Region and also headed the church’s women and children ministires. Speaking at the funeral on behalf of Mutharika, presidential aide Mabvuto Bamusi said the first lady was saddened by the death of Kunkanga whom she called one of the strong and gifted Dorcas women she had ever known in providing church leadership.
