Not a week goes by without Donald Trump making headlines for the wrong reasons and this week has not been any different. This time the American President took to his favorite platform, Twitter, to flex his twitter fingers attacking the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
In his latest attack on British systems, Trump claimed that the NHS is “going broke and not working.” The attack came after a program on FOX News which focused on the pressure the service is under during winter.
Trump accused the Democrats of trying to push a similar health system for America. “The Democrats are pushing for Universal HealthCare while thousands of people are marching in the UK because their U system is going broke and not working. Dems want to greatly raise taxes for really bad and non-personal medical care. No thanks!,” tweeted Trump.
In response, British Prime Minister, Theresa May, said she was proud of the UK’s universal healthcare system which is funded from general taxation.
Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt came in defense of the NHS which was facing protests in the UK due to the winter strain the sytem is under.
According to Hunt, “not ONE of them wants to live in a system where 28m people have no cover”.
He added: “NHS may have challenges but I’m proud to be from the country that invented universal coverage – where all get care no matter the size of their bank balance.”
