Two Indians arrested for raping 14 year old girls

Police in Mzuzu have arrested two Indian nationals suspected of raping two 14 year old girls in Chigwele in the the Northern city.

The two Indian men work for Kalpataru Transmission Limited, a company which is working on an electrification project under the Millenium Challenge Account-Malawi.

The suspects identified as Imum Dune Shawar and Kisish Kumar aged 50 and 24 respectively raped the two girls in a car after luring them with K1,000.

The two have denied the charge and have since been released in bail after they paid K300,000 for their bond. They have also surrendered their passports while investigations are underway.

According to the Mzuzu Police spokesperson paul Tembo, Shawar was the first to be arrested after he lured one of the young girls to have sex with him on the 22nd of March 2018.

“The following day, the girl returned with a friend, and they repeatedly had sexual encounters with the two suspects who offered them K1,000 every time they met,” said Tembo.

One of the girls revealed the activities to her father who then took the matter to the police. Hospital officials carried out tests and revealed that the girls had indeed been sexually molested.
