Nsanje District Forestry officials and police have arrested three people and impounded a tractor for cutting down Colophospermum Mopane, endangered tree species locally known as Tsanga. Nsanje Police Station officer-in-charge Kirby Kaunga and district forestry officer Kennedy Adamson confirmed the development in separate interviews. Adamson said the Mozambicans and Chinese Nationals are conniving with traditional leaders to cut down the trees which are then illegally exported to China.
