The wait is over as President of the United Transformation Movement (UTM) Dr Saulos Chilima has unveiled Dr Michael Usi as his running mate in the upcoming 21 May Tripartite Elections.
Chilima had played his cards close to his chest with the revelation coming in minutes before presenting his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) at COMESA.
Dr Usi has been involved with UTM since the beginning of the party and was known for his movement “Wokudya Zake Alibe Mlandu”. He is well known for his character “Manganya” in the famous TV program Tikuferanji.
Before joining active politics, Dr Usi was the country director for ADRA Malawi a non-governmental organization providing sustainable community development and disaster relief without regard to political or religious association, age, gender, race and ethnicity.
