Rumphi District is said to be on track towards attaining the open defaecation free (ODF) status as current statistics indicate that most households now own toilets and hand washing facilities. Speaking at a double commemoration ceremony for World Toilet Day at Mkombezi in Rumphi yesterday, Feed The Children Malawi country director James Eaton said about 34,600 people are now living in an open defaecation free environment. Chinyolo Area development Committee Chairperson Harvey Chihana said in the past, 20 households were using a single toilet, but since 2014, every household owns a toilet.
