Malawi facing toughest period in its history – President Lazarus Chakwera

President Lazarus Chakwera has said Malawi is facing its toughest period since the Republic was formed over 50 years ago. Chakwera expressed his views in a National address where he highlighted the 1,000 death toll due to Covid-19.

The Corona Virus pandemic has already compounded a dire economic situation where government revenues are falling while costs keep rising.

Chakwera says his administration has since re-instated the moratorium on loans for the next six months until June 2021 and also said his administration has started paying the K238 Billion bill that government owes the private sector.
