HRDC supports Chizuma in the face of Zuneth Sattar’s Associate’s Defamation Lawsuit

The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has come out throwing its support behind ACB Director General Marta Chizuma in the face of a defamation lawsuit brought against her by corruption suspect and Zuneth Satter Business associate, Ashok Nair.

Ashok Nair is suing Martha Chizuma over contents of a leaked audio in which the ACB Director is unkowingly recorded and baited into saying she was dissappointed with the way Ashok Nair was given bail, suggesting that money had exchanged hands in order to defeat the ends justice.

Ashok Nair is seeking damages in the case.

While the organization did not directly comment on Chizuma’s legal challenges, HRDC issued the following statement signed by its Chairperson, Gift Trapence, “HRDC would like to assure her of our continued support as she faces obstruction after obstruction in her quest to fight corruption in the country. Regardless, our faith in Ms Chizuma’s capability to shake the corruption tree to expose the rotten fruit is still intact and we believe she is still the right person for the job.”
