Denies supporting Chilima and UTM behind the scenes
The emergence of deep divisions and mistrust within the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) top brass has been getting more pronounced since the parties 2018 convention which saw some party heavy weights lose key positions during the party indaba. Among them was Henry Mussa the current Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
Mussa was forced to come out and deny in the strongest terms accusations leveled against him by a leaked conversation between the Party’s Secretary General, Greselder Jeffrey and Party vice president Kondwani Nankhumwa that he was supporting ‘rebel’ vice president Dr Saulos Chilima and his United Transformation Movement (UTM).
In the audion clip, Jeffrey is heard suggesting that Mussa could not be trusted and maybe a double agent for the Chilima movement.
“How can she talk about me like that? Where was she when I was sleeping on the floor with President Mutharika in a Police cell in Lilongwe?” charged Mussa.
Mussa described Jeffrey’s utterances as nonsense and childish before demanding an apology from the outspoken DPP secretary General.
Chilima and the United Transformation Movement are set to hold their first rally in Blantyre at Njamba Freedom Park tomorrow.
