Malawi’s Fiscal Police are “interested” to hear Peter Mutharika’s side of the story regarding the $7,000,000.00 cement import scandal.
Norman Chisale, Mutharika’s security aide is already in Police custody in connection with the dubious deal. Mutharika initially denied wrongdoing, with his press team saying the cement was for personal use as provided for in the Presidents Salaries and Benefits Act.
After being removed as President, Mutharika had to use a State Lodge before he could move into his retirement home in Mangochi which is still unfinished. It is not known whether he will be paying rent for the time that he is there.
