Covid-19 delays bail ruling for Dorothy “Cash Madame” Shonga and Collins Magalasi

It is still not clear if the Magistrates Court in Lilongwe will grant bail or not to Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (Mera) CEO Collins Magalasi, the regulator’s spokesperson Patrick Mauldi, Bright Mbewe from Mera’s procurement office and Magalasi’s business associate, Dorothy Shonga.

This comes as the court premises have been disinfected after one accused person in a case involving former Budget Director at Treasury, Paul Mphwiyo, tested positive to Covid 19.

Supreme Court and High Court Registrar Agnes Patemba is yet to confirm if the magistrates court in Lilongwe will be operational today for court proceedings.

13 police officers who are being accused of taking part in Lule Buleya’s death, among others, were also expected to hear their bail ruling.
