Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has handed himself over at Lilongwe Police Station in Area 30.
He has surrendered together with his wife, Mary. The two were declared fugitives from justice by South African Authorities after they skipped bail and fled to Malawi while on bail for fraud and money laundering charges.
Last night armed police had raided Bushiri’s home in Lilongwe but did not manage to apprehend the now now notorious couple who founded the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church in Pretoria.
Bushiri will now be planning to fight extradition to South Africa where he claims he will not have a fair trial and he fears for his life in the country.
His escape from South Africa has caused a stir on social media and in South Africa with many South Africans disappointed with their State Security apparatus.
