Bushiri facing fresh Investigations by SA Home Affairs Dept

It never rains but pours for Sheperd Huxley Bushiri as the South African Home Affairs Department has launched an investigation into the residence status of the self styled prophet of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG).

According to the Home Affairs Department, this is just a routine exercise to assist in the already ongoing investigation. Bushiri and his wife who are out on bail until May is said to have first entered South Africa in 2009 and only acquired permanent residency in 2016.

The investigation centers on how he managed to start operating his church in 2012 despite his non-permanent status with the Home Affairs Department.

On Sunday during a sermon at his Church, Bushiri told his congregants that he is here to stay and will not be going anywhere soon, “As you leave this place, you must leave with this information. Major 1 is staying. It is done. It doesn’t matter what people are saying about you. Major 1 has said it is done”.

The Bushiri’s have hired Advocate Barry Roux to represent them in the fraud and money laundering case they have been charged with.
