Barcelona beat Mamelodi Sundowns F.C

Barcelona FC quickly recovered from their weekend hangover to overcome South African club Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 in an international friendly match that was played at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Messi and company flew down to South Africa to take part in the Nelson Mandela Centenary Cup amid much excitement from local fans who were happy to see the Barcelona stars in their back yard.

With Messi only appearing from the substitute bench, Barcelona scored with goals coming from Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez and Andre Gomes while Sibusiso Vilakazi gave the home team, “The Brazilians”, a consolation goal in the 76th minute.

A crowd of 78,000 braced the cold Joburg night to watch Pitso Mosimane’s boys play the legendary Spanish La Liga Champions managed by Ernesto Valverde in the Nelson Mandela Centenary Cup marking 100 years since the birth of the former president.
